Chair duet
Mine and dolly’s chair duet-
I personally feel that are chair duet turnt out really well, at first me and dolly struggled to work together and come up with storied to relate to the stimulus however once we got our end story we worked really hard and came up with loads of different ideas. Based of the stimulus we come up with the idea that the man on the chair is in lockdown and everything flying around out his feeling surrounding him and all of the comments being said online about corona all over the internet. We decided to make ours about a close relabsionship between us and the chair as it’s like that chair is now our safe place so everytime we try and leave we always end up back in that chair no matter what.
My initial response to the stimulus was that it could come across in many ways however I wanted our peice to be different to everyone else’s I knew that most people would think of the same idea so I wanted to think out of the box and take one little thing from the picture and make a new story out of it instead of fully basing it of the picture itself.
The key stages of developing this piece were to make sure we were fully focused the whole time and when doing physical theatre it’s more about that connection between body movement and connecting with that other person without much communication.
The physical theatre practitioner that influenced me was pina Bausch, me and dolly included a variety of contractions and we used these in a way to show that we were letting out our feeling and giving up aswell as uses breathes. We used this practitioner as I feel she has a very unique style and we wanted to interpret that into our piece.
