Devising from a theme

Image
Our theme that we chose as a group was ethical the reason that we decided in this theme is because we as a group had some great ideas for one of the themes, we wanted to be different and we knew that everyone would choose one of the obvious ones. We chose ethical as it talks about real life issues that may effect people and we wanted to be able to show this to an audience that may be able to relate on some sort of level. The topic we chose to do was abortion, our reasoning for this being that we are able to get loads of information including peoples personal stories and statistics that will make our peice even more realistic but with the correct evidence. We decided to reject things like war as we have done this many times before and we wanted to try something different so we were able to be more creative. Mind map - Ideas chart- As a group we came up with loads of research, we chose a song from BeyoncĂ© called heaven this is because it’s really emotion and we feel it could link to...

Small performances

My group- Stimulus-mind map that was surrounded in thoughts that someone with mental health struggles with. Video of my groups small performance- In my group it was me, Robyn, Molly and Kayleigh  and we wanted to create a storyline that wasn't obvious as we believed that everyone would look and make a piece about bullying so we wanted to make ours the compete opposite of what everyone would think of. Our chosen practitioner that we decided to use was Gecko as well  as abit of frantic assembly this is because we liked the idea of the unusual and weird style of acting that is eye catching to the audience. We first thought about how we would have our opening formation so we decided to stand in a circle to make the audience question on what we were thinking and looking at. In our workshop in which we had with the company Gecko a few months ago we liked the idea of someone making a clap sound with their hands and everyone else's attention on stage being dragged to it and look...

Practitioners and techniques

Frantic Assembly From a reckless leap into the unknown 25 years ago, Frantic Assembly has developed into one of the UK's most successful and best loved theatre companies. Our ambition is that we continue to learn and remain committed to making brave and bold theatre. At times it is physically dynamic and brutal. At others it's proudly tender and fragile. Brecht Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) was one of the twentieth century's most influential theatre practitioners. He questioned how spectators reacted to drama instead of of being carried away by the plot or connecting with emotionally complex characters. Brecht wanted the audience to consider the societal challenges encountered by playwriters in their work. His main three technique's included the V-effect, Historicization and  Gestures  which are the main reason behind Brechtian. While an audience member watched a piece of Brecht performance he wanted his audience to be engaged and not just watch his plays for the...
